Privacy Policy

RIDR ("RIDR", "we", "us") is a motorcycle-social app that helps riders find rides, routes and other riders nearby. This policy explains what information RIDR collects, why, and how it's used.
RIDR is built to share as little as possible by default — most of what makes RIDR work (nearby riders, weather, route sorting) is designed around approximate, not exact, location, and nothing here is sold to advertisers or data brokers.
1. Information we collect
Account information. When you create a RIDR account, we collect your email address and password (handled securely by our authentication provider, Supabase). You may add a display name, username, bio, city, profile photo, and details about your motorcycle(s).
Location. With your permission, RIDR uses your device's location to:
- Show you rides, events, routes and riders near you, and sort them by distance
- Show local weather on your Home screen
- Fill in your city during onboarding, and rank place-search results near you
Your precise location is never shared with other riders. If you set a home location, we store the point you provide so it can be used to find riders and rides near you; it is readable only by you. What every other rider can see — and what nearby-rider matching and distances are calculated from — is an approximate position snapped to a ~2km grid on our server. Your device's live location, used to browse what's near you, is used on your device and in requests to the map and weather providers described below; RIDR does not store it. You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings, and update or change your home location in Settings; RIDR continues to work without it, just without location-based features.
Push notifications. If you allow notifications, RIDR stores a token identifying your device so that notifications (for example a ride invite, a join request or a message) can be delivered to it through Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging. You can turn notifications off in your device settings, and the token is removed when you sign out.
Rides, routes and events. Information you create — rides you host or join, routes you submit or save, events you create or RSVP to, messages you send in ride group chats or direct messages — is stored so the app can function and so other riders you interact with can see it where relevant (e.g. ride participants can see the ride chat).
Photos. If you upload a profile picture or a photo of your motorcycle, it's stored in our file storage provider (Supabase Storage) and is publicly viewable within the app, the same way a name or bio is.
Biometric app lock. If you enable fingerprint/face unlock for RIDR, that authentication happens entirely on your device using your operating system's own biometric APIs. RIDR never receives or stores your biometric data — we only receive a yes/no result from your device.
Purchases. RIDR+ subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and purchase validation is handled by our subscription provider, RevenueCat. RIDR does not receive or store your payment card details.
Basic usage information. We keep lightweight internal logs of app usage (e.g. which features are used) to understand what's working and fix bugs. This is not shared with third-party advertisers.
2. How we use this information
We use the information above to:
- Operate core features (rides, routes, events, messaging, matching)
- Show you relevant nearby content
- Process RIDR+ subscription purchases and verify entitlements
- Maintain the security of your account (e.g. blocking/reporting abusive users)
- Diagnose and fix bugs
3. Who can see your information
- Your name, username, bio, city, profile photo, and motorcycle details are visible to other signed-in riders, similar to any social app profile.
- Ride/route/event content you create is visible to other riders per that feature's own visibility rules (e.g. a private ride is only visible to invited riders).
- Direct messages are only visible to you and the rider you're messaging.
- We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not share it with advertisers.
4. Third-party services we rely on
RIDR is built on a small number of infrastructure providers who process data on our behalf, under their own security and privacy commitments:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage
- RevenueCat — subscription purchase validation
- Apple App Store / Google Play — payment processing for RIDR+
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivering push notifications to your device
- Mapbox — maps, route drawing and place search (receives what you type into a search box and, to rank nearby results, your approximate position)
- Open-Meteo — local weather (receives your approximate position)
None of these providers are permitted to use your RIDR data for their own advertising purposes.
RIDR is used by riders around the world, and these providers operate internationally, so your information may be processed in countries other than your own.
5. Your choices and rights
- You can edit or delete most profile information directly in the app.
- You can revoke location or camera permission at any time in your device settings.
- You can remove your profile picture at any time from Edit Profile.
- You can delete your account and associated data yourself in the app (Profile → Settings & Privacy → Account → Delete account), or see https://getridr.app/delete-account/. If you can't access the app, contact us (see below). We delete what we can and retain only what we're legally required to (e.g. transaction records).
6. Children
RIDR is not directed at anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under that age. If we learn that we have, we delete the account and its data.
7. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of RIDR after a change means you accept the updated policy.
